Chicken Curry Meatballs for Babies

One of the biggest challenges of baby-led weaning is finding appropriate shapes that baby can handle that are not a choking risk. These tender meatballs do just that. Large enough to avoid swallowing whole, but small enough to get a good grip; meatballs are a practical recommendation for families.

How to Prepare Curry Chicken Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (~450g) Chicken, fresh, ground

  • 1/2 White onion, small, finely diced

  • 1 Carrot, grated

  • 1 tbsp ginger, fresh, grated

  • 2 tsp curry powder

  • 1 pinch pepper

  • 1 dash cinnamon

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400*F (200*C).

  2. Add chicken, onion, carrot, and spices to a large bowl.

  3. Mix all the ingredients together well.

  4. Roll the meatballs into a shape slightly larger than a golf ball or, if preferred, into a log shape.

  5. Bake for 20 minutes.

  6. Using an internal thermometer, check that the thickest meatball is cooked thoroughly to 165*F (74*C), the safe temperature for ground chicken.

  7. Once cool, serve and enjoy!

  8. If reheating, make sure you reach this same temperature before serving. Try microwaving with a bit of unsalted chicken broth or coconut milk to make sure they stay tender.
